Pitstop in Pittsburgh last week. We had to check out one of our favorite spots from Jed's part in RATED R, and were glad to see that our presence lives on. Another week, let's get into it.

Torment Weather Report: Last Wednesday, Indonesia issued a tsunami alert following the eruption of Mount Ruang, a 2,400-foot volcano on the island of North Sulawesi. This southernmost stratovolcano has erupted more than five times in the last week, with spitting lava and ash affecting 1,000+ residents that live in the surrounding area.

"Agency chief Hendra Gunawan said officials had raised the volcano alert to the highest level, warning people not to go within 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) of the peak, due to fears Mount Ruang could partially collapse into the water and cause a tsunami, as it did in 1871."

We got an email from Ryan Ritossa last week, and were hyped to see the above video attached. The streets of WV, PA and NY are alive and well with WAITING GAME.

"We got pretty lucky with the little snow we did get and tried to take advantage of it."

One of New Hampshire's most notoriously abandoned ski resorts, Mt. Whittier, just got listed for sale at $3.2 million. The NAI Norwood Group has put this 797-acre property on the market following a few revival attempts from other individuals, all of which have failed due to no snowmaking, high property insurance costs, and little investment.

"Today, most of the mountain has grown back. Lift towers of the gondola and t-bar remain, but are surrounded by trees. Over on Route 16 though, the lift towers still remain, and even cross the road. The old base terminal of the gondola is now a gift shop, and one of the lift towers is located right next to the Golden Arches of a McDonald’s. It should be noted that the gift shop and the McDonald’s are not part of the sale."

Gosha Konyshev and friends built a mini ramp out of solid ice in what can only be a Russia park. We could be wrong, but that's gotta be one of the more on brand things for a Russian skate crew to do midwinter.

"Our children's children will watch this in awe from their Amazon bio-domes, imagining a world in which ice still existed and water (now a highly inflated commodity) could be used so freely."

Timberline closed last Friday (4/19) due to a fire in it's lodge. The headhouse attic and its exterior roof area were affected from fireplace embers, but fortunately nothing penetrated the hotel interior.

"All things considered, fire and subsequent water damage is benign and contained to the central areas of the Historic Lodge." There are already plans in place to help with hotel repairs and ongoing water remediation, and you can help donate to the clean-up / restoration here.
